- "BIDs do not provide any service to my business which is not covered by my rates or taxes"
UPDATE JUNE 2017
BALLOT PAPERS HAVE BEEN POSTED OUT
The ballot papers were posted out this week. It is very important that you ask your landlord for your papers and use your vote to VOTE NO to get rid of this quango BID/Dublintown. We are paying an unnecessary double rate for NO SERVICE. Money that we could be investing into our own business. Please speak with your neighbouring business associates about this unfair levy and make sure to remind them to VOTE NO before July 17th (noon deadline)
Make sure you register post your ballot paper, and keep a photocopy for your records and ours.

VOTE NO TO BID RENEWAL SCHEME
This is your opportunity to VOTE NO to the renewal of the BID scheme. Don't pay double rates.
You already pay Dublin City Council to maintain the city.
BID/Dublintown is not a representative company and does not represent your interests. It is not an authority.
A No Vote will save you money on unfair unnecessary rates.
A No Vote will free your business and help your business economically.
A No Vote would give you more opportunity to invest that money directly into your business.
A No Vote will ensure that you are not captive to an unfair rate that only applies to certain businesses in certain areas.
A No Vote will put your voice and your power back into the city centre business district.
A No Vote will give you an opportunity to form a voluntary organisation that can help your business and help your street.
You already pay rates and taxes to the local authority why pay a private marketing company to simply promote itself in the form of We are Dublintown?
DID YOU KNOW....
Dublintown does not improve any business district.
Dublintown does not make the streets greener or cleaner as it was set up to do.
Dublintown/BID is in the business of assisting the NTA in diverting traffic and customers away from your business.
Dublintown is a keen supporter of injection rooms in the business and residential district in the centre of our city.
Dublintown/BID is not a transparent organisation, it is not subject to the Freedom of Information act even though your money is demanded lawfully by Dublin City Council rates office.
Dublintown/BID pays itself handsomely with your hard earned money. It has a suite of offices in Abbey Street and only promotes certain large firms and businesses.
Dublintown has failed to tackle the issues on our streets.
Dublintown has failed to tackle issues concerning businesses
Dublintown has completely ignored hundreds of businesses who wish to exit and depart its unfair rates.
Dublintown has constantly ignored the wishes of the residential community of the city and the business community of our city.
Dublintown has consistently refused to be transparent and answer direct questions at its AGM’s.
Dublintown has proved to be hostile to business people and their community and would appear to have aligned itself entirely with the NTA (National Transport Authority) and Dublin City Council on their flawed traffic policies and rearrangement.
Dublintown/BID stood idly by while the city almost came to a standstill with the LUAS works.
Dublintown/BID has spent your money promoting lofty ideas like the ‘Dublin 1 District ‘. The budget for Christmas lights in the Henry Street area incorporated this D1 branding. This issue was not brought for consent to all the members of the BID who were kept in the dark by the BID board.
Stop paying a double rate that goes to Dublintown self promotion at the expense of our business. Dublintown is a quango that we cannot continue to subsidise. Dublin City Council is the legal authority for the welfare and maintenance of the city and we already pay them plenty. We do not need extra rate demands that go towards a private company. Hundreds of us business people have now decided that enough is enough.
We realise in order to end this unfairness in rates we must campaign actively for a NO vote for the 2017 renewal of the BID scheme.
Make business sense, make better business, and a fairer fair city.
